OUR ORIGINS

The place that is now called Wuthering Heights Bed and Breakfast by the Sea was called Pangpang by the locals during the 40s and 50s. The name Wuthering Heights was coined by American professors from Silliman University when they frequented the beachside small cliffs of Tapon Norte, Municipality of San Jose, Negros Oriental during the 1950's. They would come to this part of San Jose for some quiet time and picnic. The professors picnicking on these small cliffs of San Jose gave them the feeling for Wuthering Heights based on the novel by Emily Brontë.  This name somehow stuck to the students of Dumaguete who also started frequenting these San Jose "cliffs" to hang out for swimming and picnics.

Fe Amiscaray Pareja of San Jose, would often come to Pangpang with her sisters and friends to swim and just hang out. In 1963 she met Ramon E. Montaño, a young constabulary officer that was assigned in the nearby town. Along with their friends, they used to regularly go to Wuthering Heights to hang out and swim. Fe and Ramon eventually married and had a family of their own. The couple started the tradition of taking their young family and relatives along with their pet dog, to Wuthering Heights for picnics on a regular basis.

This was such a memorable place for them that when it was up for sale, the couple bought the place and decided to share it to the world by building a small hotel in 1994. They aptly called it Wuthering Heights Beach Resort. Now the resort serves as a bed and breakfast beach hotel that continues to welcome guests who seek a relaxing and private getaway.
